Worldwide Director of Engineering – Steering (m/f/d)

WW Director of Engineering – Steering leads engineering, cross-functional and cross-locational teams to meet strategic and program objectives for new product development, sustaining engineering, RFQ and investigations for WW Steering in the Automotive Sensor Division. Lead the coordination of worldwide Steering resources for project assignments by working closely with other Engineering Site Directors. This role also provides overall site leadership for the Munich Engineering Design Center, engineering plans based on inputs from VP of Product & Technolgy and Vice President, Engineering. Works with Engineering Leadership peers in supports of the development and implementation of product/technology roadmaps. The WW Director of Engineering – Steering is responsible for the engineering organizations adherence to Bourns development process/procedures while championing the introduction of new engineering methodologies and procedures which advance higher efficiency, quality and time-to-market.

Your Tasks:
  • Lead the coordination of world-wide Steering resources for project assignments by working closely with other Engineering Site Directors, Product Line Directors and Vice President of Engineering. Site leadership for the Munich Engineering Design Center.
  • Overall planning, development and execution of the division’s strategic initiatives, based on inputs from General Manager and Vice President of Engineering.
  • Manages and executes multiple engineering projects and programs of high-level complexity ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to Company standards, operation requirements and business needs.
  • Leads and manages teams and projects to ensure product quality, maximize cost reduction, meet cost savings targets and improvement initiatives .
  • Technical Voice for Steering, communicating frequently across the organization and keeping leadership regularly updating.
  • Budget responsible for WW Steering activities as well as Munich Design Center.
  • Schedules, manages, and communicates complex project plans to ensure project plans meet customer milestones and expectations.
  • Reviews the annual performance together with HR and local Management, conducts interim reviews, and agrees with staff development plans when needed.

  • Plays a key role in regard to staff planning, promotions, and necessary staff movements to develop a meaningful team structure at BGER.
  • Participates in the recruiting processes in key roles of the BGER location and supports the decisions towards Bourns corporate towards the approval processes for an excellent candidate experience.
Your Profile:
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, PHD preferred
  • Multiple years of experience in engineering within a complex and global automotive manufacturing environment and Detailed understanding of Engineering methodologies and tools
  • Proven record in leading engineering and cross-functional teams
  • Project Management experience in multiple projects, especially with proven record in leading them
  • Exceptionally strong understanding of multiple facets of engineering, including: hardware, software, materials, mechanics, processes, PCB Layouts, microprocessor architectures and implementations
  • Advanced ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects in alignment with dated objectives and goals
  • Advanced ability to make effective presentations and respond accurately and succinctly to questions from department members, engineering management, senior management, customers and others
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills and ability to influence others
  • Proven record of problem solving and decision making skills
  • Builds and maintain constructive working relationships characterized by acceptance, cooperation and respect by others
