Worldwide Innovation Manager (m/f/d)

The Worldwide Innovation Manager is responsible for creating, overseeing and executing a comprehensive long-term innovation strategy and development plans for the Bourns Sensor Division. This role is accountable for the leadership, strategic direction and organizational management of a team in the delivery of the divisional innovation products and technology roadmaps. The Innovation Manager provides thought leadership and nurtures new ideas from ideation through the innovation development process.

Your Tasks:
  • Overall planning, development and execution of the division’s strategic innovation initiatives, based on inputs from General Manager, Vice President of Engineering and Product Line Directors and the Technical Fellow - Sensors.
  • Lead engineering, cross-functional and cross-locational teams to meet the divisions overall Innovation objectives.
  • Synthesize perspectives from Senior Management, Product Line Management, Sales, Engineering along with the latest market / technology into a living product-technology roadmap.
  • As required, lead technical investigations, leading a cross-functional team in planning, describing the issues, root cause analysis, corrective actions, organizing stakeholders meetings, defining actions and driving to conclusion.
  • Coordinate and be a key participate in various design and analysis reviews, providing technical recommendations, advice and guidance to projects designs, development and methods so they will be successful.
  • As required, lead deep dive investigations into the design and architecture of proposed products to evaluate feasibility, weaknesses or improvements.
  • Develop and foster innovation methodologies, best practices and procedures which improve development efficiency, technical excellence, cross functional collaboration and product quality.
  • Understand the Voice of the Customer (VOC) and reimagine the experience of the customer.
  • Budget responsibility for Innovation activities.
  • Prepares effective, content-rich management reports and presentations to communicate project planning, status and proposals.
  • Works closely together with Site Engineering Directors to build, lead, manage and maintain a team of engineers by recruiting, employee training and development, and coaching to ensure the highest levels of staff performance.
Your Profile:
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Software Engineering or equivalent.
  • Several years of experience in engineering within a complex and global automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Bright experience in Project Management required, leading engineering or cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in working on next generation innovative technology.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills and ability to influence others.
  • Strong understanding of multiple facets of engineering, including: hardware, software, materials, mechanics, processes, PCB Layouts, microprocessor architectures and implementations.
  • Build and maintain constructive working relationships characterized by acceptance, cooperation and respect by others.
  • Exceptional ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects in alignment with dated objectives and goals.
  • Exceptional ability to make effective presentations and respond accurately and succinctly to questions from department members, engineering management, senior management, customers and others.
